We did it—and then some! We have officially surpassed our goal of 143 residences secured, bringing us one step closer to making Bella Vida a reality. With this incredible milestone achieved, the land is in the process of being cleared. Bella Vida Groundbreaking
To mark the momentous occasion, our first two VIPs, John and Kandy, as well as Bella Vida staff and members of Forefront Living, stood atop the hill, taking in the future site of the new community.
Exciting progress is happening at Bella Vida!
With this great news, the financing process is set to finalize in late March, and then construction will soon be officially underway.
We cannot wait to celebrate this milestone with you and are thrilled to announce an official Bella Vida Groundbreaking Celebration on May 14, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Sustenio at the Éilan Hotel. Stay tuned for more details and a formal invitation as we take this exciting next step forward!

Q: Between the two of you, how many places have you lived? Which was your favorite and why?
A: We’ve moved fourteen times, living in eleven different cities in eight states. Hawaii was by far our favorite. We could visit everything from beaches to mountains across the islands, and the food was amazing.
Q: What’s the most unexpected or wild experience you’ve had during your travels?
A: Surviving 65-foot swells and hurricane-force winds on a small expeditionary ship off the coast of Iceland.
Q: What’s a lesson from your military career that has shaped the way you live today?
A: You can always find something to appreciate and enjoy anywhere you live.
Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: “If you’re going to walk on thin ice, you might as well dance.”
Q: If we took a peek at your bucket list, what’s one thing still on it?
A: A Scotland river cruise with National Geographic.
Q: What’s an experience or skill you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t yet?
A: Patti would like to wave the green flag at a NASCAR race. Dave would like to drive in a NASCAR race!

There are many steps ahead, each carefully planned to ensure every VIP receives the attention they deserve. This process will take several months, and we appreciate your patience as we move forward.
To help guide you through this journey, we’re excited to introduce Rachel McGowan, Bella Vida’s Personalization and Move-in Coordinator!

Rachel has over a decade of experience in active adult communities and a strong background in nonprofits. She is passionate about creating meaningful connections and enhancing the lives of those she serves. Having been with The Outlook for over two years, she is thrilled to join the Bella Vida team and be part of the community’s opening and growth.
Rachel will work closely with you throughout the personalization and move-in process, ensuring that every step is straightforward and seamless. And while many future residents find personalization fun and exciting, others may find the thought of making design choices a bit daunting. If this is the case, please know that we are here to help!
More details will be shared with you soon, but here’s what’s coming up next:
Personalization Webinar: As we begin the building process, the first step will be a webinar for all future residents. The webinar will be held in April (tentatively). This will be our chance to walk you through what to expect throughout the personalization process.
Personalization Appointments: Each appointment will be per residence. Appointments will be scheduled in phases. We will start with the villas, and then move on to the apartment homes, based on priorities set by the construction team.
Helpful terms you may hear in the next few months:
- MEP – Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing. These are the systems that make your home functional and comfortable, including HVAC, electrical wiring, lighting, and plumbing. You will receive your 11” x 17” detailed, gridded floor plan complete with MEP details in the near future!
- Finish Selections – The process of choosing design elements like flooring, cabinetry, countertops, paint colors, and fixtures to personalize your home.
- Walkthrough – A scheduled tour of your home before move-in. You will review finishes, confirm personalization choices, and identify any final adjustments needed.
- Punch List – A final checklist of items that must be completed or corrected before move-in, ensuring everything meets quality standards.
- CO (Certificate of Occupancy) – A document issued once construction is complete and the residence is approved for move-in.

Neighborhood VIPs: Villa Social
On January 16, we welcomed 40 of our fabulous VIPs for an unforgettable evening filled with great company. The highlight of the evening was unveiling our signature cocktail, expertly served by none other than our very own Sally Casey, who stepped into the role of bartender extraordinaire. The room buzzed with energy as we welcomed many new faces to the Bella Vida family. They mingled, shared stories, and indulged in delicious food and drinks. It was a perfect evening of connection and celebration!
Galentine’s Day Special for Single Ladies
Our inaugural Galentine’s celebration was an absolute blast! With margaritas in hand and a little mischief in the air, our fabulous single ladies brought the energy. Trivia got competitive as we tested our knowledge of historic Valentines. But beyond the prizes, the real win was the laughter, bonding, and unforgettable connections we made. Here’s to friendship, fun, and fierce women—cheers to next time!
Honoring Women Veterans on International Women’s Day
In celebration of International Women’s Day, our own Sally Casey had the privilege of hosting six incredible VIPs—women veterans—who came together for a special luncheon at Mae Dunne’s Restaurant. Over a wonderful meal, they shared their personal stories, reflecting on their time in service and how it shaped their lives. The group’s experiences were remarkably diverse, spanning roles in the Nurse Corps, Adjutant General’s Office, Supply, Medical Environmental Health, and Operations Research.
A common theme between them all was the opportunity to live around the world, gaining new perspectives and appreciation for different cultures and how that broadened their world view. To conclude the event, Sally presented each woman with a copy of “The Women” by Kristin Hannah, a novel about women who served in the Vietnam War. The connections formed during the luncheon were invaluable, as the women shared laughter, camaraderie, and a deep gratitude for their shared experiences.

Bella Vida Thrive Series: Paint Your Perfect Landscape with Pauly Tamez
On January 28th, our VIPs picked up their brushes and let their creativity shine at a fun and inspiring Painting Workshop with artist Pauly Tamez! As part of our Thrive Series, this hands-on event brought together 10 VIPs who each created their own stunning landscape.
With expert guidance from Pauly, everyone had the chance to explore their artistic side, try new techniques, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of self-expression. During the event, some VIPs shared travel stories that they were reminded of, and others recalled lessons from art school! The room buzzed with laughter and conversation as VIPs brought their landscapes to life, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone.
Bella Vida Thrive Series: The Importance of Social Connection in Older Adulthood – It Takes a Village
On February 27, our VIPs had the opportunity to hear from Karen D. Sullivan, PhD, ABPP, a board-certified neuropsychologist and former caregiver, during a special virtual presentation. Through her I CARE FOR YOUR BRAIN program, Dr. Sullivan shared valuable insights on the importance of social connection as we age. Around 30 VIPs participated. Some tuned in remotely, while others enjoyed a lively watch party in the seminar room, complete with a delicious breakfast. It was an informative and engaging event that highlighted the power of staying connected for lifelong brain health!
